WIN A JOHN DEERE GATOR !!!

SVP COLLECTION:

Friday 27th November at O'Grady’s Supermarket: The local branch of St Vincent De Paul, St Joseph’s Conference, will be holding their annual collection. The funds raised will be spent in our own community, helping those who need it most with food, heating and education costs throughout the winter and beyond. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions we currently can’t collect at the church door in Granagh. However you can donate directly to our Conference @ svp.ie/donate or by calling 0818-176-176 or 028-90750161. You simply need to tell the person on the phone that you would like your donation to go to your local Conference. Alternatively we are also leaving special blue envelopes in both shops at O'Grady’s Ballingarry and O'Gormans Granagh, should you wish to donate in this way. We rely almost entirely on the support of you, the generous parishioners of Granagh & Ballingarry. Thank you in advance for your continued support.

TROCAIRE - GIFTS of LOVE:

“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.” - Nelson Mandela.

Food and water sustain us and give us life. Yet in a world of plenty, one in nine people go to bed hungry each night.

The world’s poor struggle to access land, water and other essential natural resources. Resources they need to survive and earn a living. The impact of climate change and environmental destruction is now a daily reality for many of these communities.

Thanks to You, Trócaire’s Resource Rights programme supports these communities so they don’t go hungry.

So they can grow their own food and with better and nutritious crops in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. They can earn an income to survive.

Buying a gift of love this year, helps to support these vulnerable people. See www.trocaire.org or phone 1850-408-408. I am hoping to have the Gifts on sale in the parish again this year, just to figure out a safe way to do it.

LIGHT UP A MEMORY:

The annual Light up a Memory event for Milford Hospice will now take place virtually. The Official Ceremony to illuminate the LUAM Tree will be streamed live on our Facebook page and website on Sunday 6th December at 6.00p.m. With current restrictions in place it is not possible to have supporters in attendance this year. The Lights will remain illuminated until 6.00p.m. on Sunday 3rd January 2021.

You can sponsor your light by completing the process online and you can also participate in the online Tribute Book which has become a popular way of letting everyone know that you have sponsored a light(s) in memory of your loved one(s). Christmas Cards, should you wish to purchase, are also available online.

ENERGY AUDITS:

The Winner of our draw for a free home energy audit plus BER rating is Anne & Thomas Hickey, Kilatal. All application forms have been sent to the Tipperary Energy agency for data collation. A total of seven homes will be included in the audits, varying in ages and types. This process will begin in January.

COOLRUSS XMAS LIGHTS:

Good news, the Carroll family are going ahead with our Xmas lights for charity this year. In line with government recommendations we regret that we cannot have a grand opening as per other years. We will keep you updated on when lights will be open to the public , we expect it to be in early December.

SELF HELP AFRICA:

We know, at this time of year, the trees we are mainly thinking about are the ones we like to decorate, and gather around for Christmas celebrations. But did you know - you can show your appreciation for trees, and the important benefits they bring, when you do your grocery shopping? Until December 8th our 'One Million Trees' partner GLENISK are running a very special promotion with SuperValu, where €1 from every 500g pot of Glenisk Bio Organic sold goes to One Million Trees! See www.selfhelpafrica.org

GET WELL:

Sending our good wishes to John English, who is recovering after an accident. Plenty of TLC and he will be back to form again soon.
