CHURCH NEWS:
Sun 19th - Mission Sunday. Communion families first gathering and the Choir will be in attendance.
CHOMHBHRÓN:
Our sympathies to Tommy & David O'Riordan, Kilmore, on the death of their brother John, in UHL last Sunday, after a short illness. Predeceased by his late brother Patrick and sister-in-law Mary.
He was reposed at St.Joseph's Church, Tuesday evening with Requiem Mass on Wednesday 15th at 11am. Burial afterwards in the local cemetery. John was an active member of the community, in the 60's he was a member of Granagh Athletic Club. He was on the senior cross-country team, with his brothers, which was managed by Fr. Denis Browne and ran several Dublin city marathons. He was a former member of Granagh Group Water scheme, Knockfierna Heritage and Granagh Development. He was well known as a singer & musician and only last Christmas performed at our parish concert. He often performed on Jimmy Reidy's radio programme. He represented Granagh/Ballingarry GAA in several Scór competitions and was also Irish Officer for the Club. He competed for many years in the Cómhaltas Fleadh Cheoil and took home many awards. In the last number of years he was a regular attendee at Rambling houses, near and far. He was well known for his Lilting, Whistling, Singing & Mouth Organ playing and was a believer of keeping the old Irish traditions alive. Go dtuga Dia aoibhneas na bhFlaitheas dó.

The world produces enough food to feed all of its inhabitants, yet an estimated 673 million people went without food last year.!! Of the ten hungriest countries in the world, 7 are in Africa, along with Papua New Guinea, Haiti & Madagascar. Yet again, we are so lucky to be living here in Ireland.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Friday 7th Nov @8pm. Community Curry Night, tickets through Eventbrite.
Friday 28th Nov @ 6.30pm; Lighting-Up the Christmas Tree followed by Kids disco. We had a lovely night last year with a donation going to Liskennett Equine Centre. Their food truck will be here again so all invited to sing a few Christmas songs
FINAL NOTES:
I have retired as PRO of Granagh Development Assoc, so these are my final notes, on their behalf.
It has been a privilege to volunteer with Granagh Dev, as PRO, for the past twenty two years and witness all the positive changes that have taken place over those years.
All the projects that we have undertaken have been so worthwhile and made a difference to the community centre and the parish. Thanks to all the Officers & Committees I have worked with over the years, they made it easy to get things done and it was most enjoyable, the time just flew by – so much so that I didn’t realise I was around that long.!!
Just a word of thanks to all who helped with the recent New Kitchen project. Gerry & John who dismantled the old kitchen; Johnny Kelly for doing the slabbing. Seamus Twomey for plastering. Dave O’Hanlon & Thomas O’Donovan who installed the new Kitchen. Mike O'Regan for doing the tiling. Grace & John Griffin for the big clean up after & replacing all the stuff.
Thanks to the Vale Star & staff for giving us the opportunity to send in our community notes, the paper is vital to the county - keeping us in contact with neighbouring parishes & letting us know what is happening.
So the time has come to move along & make way for the next generation. The committee have done marvellous work in the last year & I wish them the best of luck for their next term. Thanks for the wonderful memories & the beautiful presentation. Mary O'Regan.
