CHURCH NEWS:
Season of Creation: The science is clear; our world is warming due to human activity, giving rise to drought, famine, devastating wildfires, extreme weather events, sea level rise and the displacement of millions of people.
The theme this year for the Season of Creation is “Peace with Creation” and the symbol depicts a “garden of peace” creating a safe resting place where people can dwell in peace. How do we help each other flourish, create conditions for peace and justice?
It can be as simple as making time to listen to those in our family, to neighbours, to community. It can be an offering of our gifts and talents in service of others. In listening to the signs of the times, are there ways we can change our lifestyle to a slower gear, to notice the beauty around us, to hand the next generation a local space in a slightly better shape, less polluted and more cared for?
Future generations will never forgive us if we miss the opportunity to protect our common home. "We have inherited a garden; we must not leave a desert for our children.”
