Ballingarry-Granagh Community Games

Facebook: -   Ballingarry Granagh Community Games.

Ballingarry-Granagh Community Games Club has been around for a number of years.    The club provides young people from U5s to U16s the opportunity to utilise their leisure time in a healthy and productive manner. The organisation is child centred and the focus is on participation rather than winning.  Children compete in a friendly rivalry, in a fun and health way. Community games has events to suit every child from the individual events to team events.

2018/2019:

We have over 100 children affiliated this year, we charge €5 per child this means the child can enter any number of events for the year and this covers their insurance. We had some great success again this year so far we have 6 individuals and one team going to the National Finals in Athlone. They are:

  • Molly O’Connell – Model Making U12

  • David Canning – Art U12

  • Michael Russell – Cross Country

  • Brian Sheehy –Cross Country

  • Eoin Lynch – Long Puck U14

  • Sean O’Connor – 7K Marathon U16s

We have a group of 6 girls who will represent Limerick at Nationals in the Culture Corner in August managed by Maura Lynch, The team are : Olivia Bennett, Therese Noonan, Aislinn Herlihy, Caoimhe Flynn, Grainne Lynch and Nessa Houlihan. The girls are rehearsing since March in Granagh Hall so if your passing any night and see a few cars pop in they would love an audience to practice with.

We also have 2 teams which have reached the Munsters which will be held in UL on 4th July. Our first team is the U14 Girls Camogie managed by Tony Fitzgibbon, we haven't had a camogie team since the early nineties so its very exciting to have won the county and heading for the munsters the team are:  Valerie Sheehy, Alicia O’Callaghan, Maeve O’Connor, Aisling Irwin, Ciara English, Ciara Sheehy, Ciara O’Connor,
Molly Cagney, Fiona O’Keeffe, Ella Clancy, Brett Shanahan, Sinead Griffin, Grace Purthill, Anna Toomey, Ellen McMahon and Aimee Tagney.

We have developed great relationships with the Camogie club thanks to the ever efficient Tony Fitzgibbon.

We have a U16 Draughts team who will also represent Limerick in the Munsters on 4th July managed by Mike Sheahan, The team are: Eoin Sheahan, Mark Sheahan, Lisa Lynch, Gearoid Lynch, Conor Lynch and Sean English.

The very best of luck to all our teams.

We are always looking for volunteers to help and lead the young children of our parish so if you are willing to help please contact Loraine at 086-0592682 and I will welcome you with open arms.
