GRANAGH PLAYERS:

Looking at the second half of the show, this week. We meet the feisty & industrious Cumann Na mBan - Marylee Stapleton, Janice Twomey, Emma Noonan, Grainne Lynch, Patricia Sheehy, Ashlinn Herlihy & Natalie Stapleton. They are not going to be found wanting during the War and contribute their various skills.? The Black & Tans - John Kelly, Martin Treacy, Niall Carroll and Pat Herlihy and commandant John Bennett, come to the fore and provide a glimpse of the brutality associated with the War. This was then reciprocated on the IRA side. The action then moves to the truce and treaty talks, those for and against and finally the IRA split. As we know, our Irish history is a very complex issue, with the fall-out from the 1920's still affecting us today. Jimmy Sheehy has tried to keep a balance and as in true life there will always be some comedy and song. We are delighted to welcome seven new members to the group, our biggest ever signing - Jimmy will be getting into contract negotiations later.!

It's such a positive to have new faces who bring a whole new outlook and talent - Patricia Sheehy, Grainne Lynch, Karis McMahon, Ashlinn & Pat Herlihy, Donal Griffin & Niall Carroll. Of course, we cannot do without our backstage crew; the make-up ladies Mary Morrissey and Lorranie Fitzgibbon, hair stylist, Marylee Stapleton, Continuity, Eileen Power and on lighting, Shane Toomey. In advance we thank all who volunteer on the play nights, for parking duties, front of house, ticket selling, teas and tidy-ups, it is a giant community effort.
