GRANAGH PLAYERS:
The play has been chosen - Send 'em Home Sweatin' & rehearsals are currently in full swing. The Players are re-imagining the original play - 'The Carnival of Glenaduff ' , written by Padraic McIntyre, a native of county Cavan. Padraic, an actor himself, was Artistic Director of Livin’ Dred Theatre Company for thirteen years. You will have heard of his most popular play - The Night Joe Dolan’s Car Broke Down.
This play is set in the fictional village of Glenaduff during the late 70s/early 80s, and it centres around the annual carnival. It brings back memories of the local carnivals held in Croom, Castlemahon and Kilfinane years ago! The play gives a humorous and entertaining insight into the psyche of a small community as it prepares for the carnival which is headed up by rising stars of the showband era 'Jack High and the Premier Aces'.
The Players ask people to note, there is strong language and content in this play. Performance weekend dates - Jan 24th, 25th, 26th, Jan 31st, Feb 1st & Feb 2nd.
