August brings the Sheaves of Corn, Then the Harvest Home is borne:

CLOTHES COLLECTION: Granagh NS parents' association, are holding their collection this coming weekend, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7th, 8th, 9th August, 5pm - 8pm each evening. Drop-off at the Parochial House

GREYBRIDGE CLASSIC CLUB: The Club are hosting their annual Cross Country Charity Tractor Run on Saturday August 15th. The run will leave from Listons Farm, Ballyculleen, Croom, V35 XT88 - registration will start at 4pm with all tractors leaving at 5pm sharp. All funds raised going to local charities.

Lough Gur Heritage Centre, Museum and Interpretive Centre is open: Weekdays 10am to 5pm: Weekends 12pm to 6pm: Lough Gur Tours are available to book online at www.loughgur.com There is a core team of approximately ten trained guides who can share their knowledge on the historical sites in the area. Lough Gur Solstice Park playground located beside the Heritage Centre is now open to the public! Visitors to the playground are asked to be responsible and use personal judgement when visiting and maybe return at a later date if the playground is busy.

Mitchelstown Caves: - have reopened, daily from 10am to 4.45 pm. Entry to the cave will be by bookings only, to make a booking please call 052 7467246. Old Irish Ways Museum: - Caherguillamore, Bruff. Telephone Denis at 086 - 1541078 for visiting times.

Sunset Hike of Galtee Mór - Friday 7th August, 6:30pm – 11:30pm . Experience an unforgettable sunset at the summit of Galtee Mór boasting spectacular views of five counties. This hike will start on the south side of the Galtees on a well-worn track. Once off the track, you are on an open hillside with views opening up to show the wonderful landscape. The aim is to be at or near the summit by sunset and to take a few minutes to relax and take in the beauty of the surroundings. The return journey will be done in the dark so the torch is needed. Ballyhoura Peak Races - Saturday 8th August : - Irish Mountain Running Association (Munster) is running Ballyhoura Peak Races, where you can choose from 10km, half marathon and marathon distances run through the beautiful trails of the Ballyhoura Mountains. Start / finish: Kilfinane.

The Doneraile Estate: - Come and hear the interesting story of how the Gardens Of The Doneraile Estate were formed over 400 years ago and how they are being restored today. FREE Guided Tours for this season: - Sunday 9th & 23rd August. Sunday 13th & 27th September. Meet up at the playground Carpark 2.30pm, where you will meet with the tour guide of the day. Art & Yoga in Galtycastle Wood: - 18th August from 10am to 1pm. Take a little time out with a beautiful guided yoga walk through the woods followed by a leisurely stroll to Deirdre Dunne's Art Gallery on Carrigeen Mountain for an art class. Deirdre will assist, teach and help you with every aspect of your artwork suitable for beginners and art enthusiasts. All art materials are included. Once you have completed your masterpiece you will be guided on a gentle walk back through the woods with yoga in between. There will be an opportunity to relax in the woodlands with a picnic. Axe Throwing Nights: - at Ballyhass Adventure Centre. www.ballyhass.ie Here is your chance to learn to axe throw every Friday night.!!!! The Axepert coaches are on-site ready to teach any would-be axe thrower. Each evening there is an hour of practice where you will learn to throw an axe safely and then practice alongside local regular throwers. At the end of the night you will take part in a WATL (World axe throwing league) competition. €20 per person including a complimentary tea or coffee.

Learn To Kayak: - Every Sunday morning until 30th August. These mornings are the perfect way to get into paddle sports, gain skills, certificates and meet new people. Mountain Skills Training Course: - Sat/Sun, 22nd / 23rd August: This two day course is ideal for anyone wishing to start learning the basics of map reading.
