FADING to the FALL:


TEXT ALERT REGISTRATION: The Granagh Community Text Alert Service has been operating for five years now. The time has come to re-join again for existing members. It is also an opportunity for any new members to join at ten euro per person. Forms will be available from Fri 27th Sept, in both O'Gormans Shop and the Church. Completed forms and accompanying contributions will be collected at the Church, after Mass on Sat 5th October in Granagh or can be dropped into O'Gormans on 5th and 6th October. Please note: All existing members must register again to continue with this important service.

GO FOR LIFE: Wed 25th Sept, 7.30pm, Scouts Den Croom: The group are back after the summer break and welcome new members to enjoy their various activities. For details, contact Civic Centre 061-602742.

CEOLTOIRI CONCERT: Sat 28th Sept, 8pm, Schoolyard Theatre: Fundraiser concert for the upcoming project ' The Rising Tide'. After a very successful and entertaining concert on culture night, with performances by Ceoltoiri Clarach and friends, this should be another great night with a variety of talent on stage. ALMOST TIME FOR BRIAN KENNEDY: Sunday 29th Sept, 3pm at Liskennett Farm: Tickets selling out fast for this great concert, on our doorstep, a fundraiser for the Equine Therapy Centre. The fabulous Liam O'Connor show is returning with special guest - ' Brian Kennedy'... Tickets E20 can be got from David Doyle on 087 - 2734150. YOUTH CLUB: Monday 30th, 8.30pm, Community Centre: Registration Night ONLY for existing and new Youth Club members. E10 per member, E5 Second child. Family of 3 or more, E20. Many thanks to the committee and volunteers who give up their time to provide this valuable service for the youth in the parish. First Club Night will be held on 4th October.

THINGS TO DO: If people have time on their hands, their are many opportunities to volunteer or to take up a new hobby. It is so good for the mind and the spirit to be involved in a group, making new friends, contributing & helping others as well as having the chat, especially over the long winter months. Not alone can people contribute something but you will learn something new every day. Volunteer - I see The Butterfly Club in Rathkeale, are looking for volunteers for a few hours, one Saturday in the month. It is a social club for children and adults with special needs which gives the parents a break from caring. 086-2120023, thebutterflyclub@eircom.net Clubs, in every parish, are always looking for volunteers to help out - Soccer, Camogie, Community Games, Youth clubs, Tidy towns etc, so many to choose from. Public Speaking - You can develop your speaking skills with Toastmasters in the Desmond Complex, Newcastle West. They meet on the first and third Wednesdays every month from Sept to June. Play Music - Adults back to Music: - If you learned a musical instrument when you were younger and would like to take it up again, then this group is for you. They meet every Wednesday at 8.30pm at the Vincent dePaul Shop, Charleville. FRC:- Croom and Ballingarry Family Resource Centres run several courses, classes, mens' shed, art classes etc so no shortage of courses to choose from. Yoga - To keep healthy and flexible, try out our weekly yoga class in the community centre at 7.30pm every Tuesday. Course:- Start your own Business. Ballyhoura Development offers a Three-session Programme for individuals who have a business idea; individuals who have just started a business, and, for Back to Work or Short-Term Enterprise Allowance applicants. The programme provides information on: Business Development, Business Registration, Taxation, Marketing & Sales, Funding & Financing, Keeping Records & Accounts, and Developing your Business Plan. It will take place at Coote Hall, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick on 2nd, 8th & 9th October, 10am-4pm each day. Local branches include, Crecora, Kilmallock, Limerick city and Shannonside. You will be kept busy with a variety of events. In sports, they have tag rugby, volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer and GAA. They have public speaking and debating. Drama, variety shows and talent competitions. Festivals, quizzes & travel. Grow your own:- The Organic College in Drumcollogher provide both short and long term courses to get you started growing your own veg. The subjects covered range from organic crop production, soil science, fruit and vegetable production, beekeeping, plant identification/protection/science, communications , woodwork & fieldtrips. LIVING WITH LOSS: Wednesdays, 9th Oct - 4th Dec: 6pm - 8.30pm: This short eight week course will provide the opportunity to explore the effects of grief and change in your life in a safe environment. Loss and grief are issues which affect all of us at some stage in our lives. Learning to deal with these issues is central to personal wellbeing and happiness. There are many different losses that occur in one’s lifetime, the one that people automatically think of when grief is mentioned is death, but there are many others such as illness, disability, adoption, abuse, workplace change, unemployment, marriage separation and divorce. Experiences such as these bring about change, both for individuals and the family and are a normal part of life.
