SPORTING LIMERICK: Not only an unbelievable weekend for Hurling but Croagh/Kilfinny are also celebrating a 'World' title.?? Well done to Martina McMahon from Croagh/Kilfinny and a member of the Broadford Handball Club, who has made Irish Handball History. The 2018 World Handball Championship finished on Sunday 19th also, with Martina winning her first World 4-Wall Open Ladies Title. In doing so she becomes the first woman ever to slam both the 1-Wall and the 4-Wall World Championships!!! She was not only the first Irish woman to win the titles but she was the first ever to reach the Open Final. She defeated two time reigning World Champion Danielle Daskalakis (USA) in Minnesota, when she took the tiebreak 11-4. She followed up her stunning singles win then, by teaming up with Antrim’s Aisling Reilly, to take the Ladies Open Doubles title also. ..Luimneach Abú

SCAMS: We have reports of more scams currently in circulation. Some people have reported receiving fraudulent calls claiming to be a Law enforcement official e.g. National Crime Agency/Europol/Interpol, advising you that your Broadband has been compromised, your identity has been stolen and your PC is being used for criminal purposes; e.g. drug trafficking/money laundering. They will ask you to assist them by making payments, that they claim will help them track and identify criminals. The callers may advise you not to disclose this information to law enforcement/bank staff. !!! Of course you should do the opposite. Calls are also being received from a Utility Company: e.g. Telephone/Mobile phone provider, Broadband provider or Software Company, offering to “fix” PC or Broadband problems. The callers will attempt to trick you into divulging your banking or card credentials and provide codes from your Card Reader, in order to access your online banking and make fraudulent payments. You may be asked to allow the caller to take remote control of your PC in order to "assist" you, however this could allow the fraudster to show you fraudulent screens. The callers are professional and sound genuine and will be able to transfer you to their “supervisor” should you request this. NEVER disclose codes from your AIB Card Reader over the phone. NEVER disclose the full five digits of your Personal Access Code (PAC). If you have received such a call and disclosed any of your Banking details, please contact us immediately. Also, reports of fraudulent ESB Staff calling to homes, check with 1850-372-372 before allowing anyone access to your home.
