Happy St. Patrick's Day:

INDIANAPOLIS CONNECTION:

I was delighted to get a note last week from Ita O'Brien, originally from Woodcock, now resident in the US. Ita follows all the local news on Facebook and the Web page. She was delighted to see all the old videos recently, which were filmed by Fr. Brown and she knew lots of people in them.

She emigrated to the US as a young adult, met her husband Denis J. Moriarty there and they married in 1956. They have been living in the Little Flower Parish, Indianapolis since 1962. Denis is a charter member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and has been very active in the organisation since he helped organise it in the 1950s. Ita and Denis have five sons - Gerard, Denis Jr, David, Aidan and Brendan. They decided to honour their dad by sponsoring an annual scholarship for a deserving graduating high school student. Apparently, they decided their dad had probably enough socks and jumpers to last awhile and they wanted to honour him with something more lasting. !!

The scholarship was awarded for the first time on st. Patrick's Day, March 2017. (See photo).

T.L.C. 4:

Friday 30th March or whenever you and the family can get out to clean a section of your road.!! As an example to us all, Pebbles Montessori have already been out and done their clean-up on the Knockfierna road. They were disgusted with all the rubbish they found and having to pick up every single item will make them think twice about littering. We all need to become more aware of keeping Ireland free of litter.
