TÚS WORKER:
There is a vacancy in the Granagh area for a Tús/CE worker. Responsibilities would include maintenance of graveyards and the community centre. The general role would include weeding, spraying, painting, repairs etc. If you qualify for these schemes and would be interested please make contact with John Bennett as soon as possible, 087-2942245
HATHA YOGA:
Saturday Yoga class continues on 2nd Dec at 5pm, in the Community Centre. Last Sunday class, on 3rd Dec at 11am.
BANOGUE DRAMA:
Don't miss out on the hilarious comedy " Pull the Other One" by Norman Robbins and produced by Mary Liston. Went down a treat with audiences last weekend, so your last chance to see it will be from Thursday 30th to Sunday 3rd Dec at 8pm. As always, you are guaranteed a great night of laughter.
GRANAGH NAT SCHOOL :
Past, Present and Future.
2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the building of Granagh National School on its present site and 2018 the 150th anniversary of the building of the old Granagh School (Community Centre). These anniversaries offer an opportunity for those who have been associated with both schools over the years, as pupil, parent, teacher, staff member, member of B.O.M. or friend to join us in celebrating these important milestones.
On Wednesday 13th December 2017 at 12 p.m., Fr Lane will join with us in St. Joseph’s church Granagh to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for all who have supported the life and work of both schools throughout the years. Our Parent’s Association have very kindly agreed to provide refreshments in the Community Centre afterwards to celebrate these special anniversaries.
Since it would be impossible to contact everyone individually if a family member or friend of yours had an association with either school you might contact them and let them know about the special Anniversary Mass.
On-going Anniversary events;
On the week of Monday 18th December 2017, members of the community who are past pupils of the schools have been invited to join with our current pupils to share some special memories and thoughts about Granagh National School, then and now.
Inspired by the discussion with our guest speakers, it is hoped that the children will then set about preparing for our art exhibition “Granagh National School – Past, Present and Future”. The exhibition will be held in the Community Centre in March 2018. An open invitation will be extended to all members of the local community to join us for the occasion and members of the community will also have the opportunity to submit a painting if they wish.
CAMOGIE AGM:
The following are the elected officers for 2018. President, Sean Cagney. Chairman, Kevin Carroll. Vice Chairperson, Maureen O’Gorman. Secretary Tony Fitzgibbon. Asst Secretary, Mairead O’Connor. Treasurer, Mary Flynn. Asst Treasurer TBC. Registrar & PRO Tony Fitzgibbon. Child Welfare Officer, Emma Noonan. The position of Asst. Treasurer has to be filled so we would appreciate anyone who would like to volunteer for that post to contact us.
Our fundraising Christmas 45 Drive will be held on Monday the 11th December in Granagh Hall at 8.30pm. Top Prize will be €300, 2nd Prize €150, with table prizes. We also will have a raffle on the night, with a cash prize and various other prizes. €10 per player, teas included. If any sponsors would like to contribute towards the night, please contact Mary at 087 6660022 or Tony at 087 6598380. All donations and contributions would be very welcome.

Lots of Christmas Fairs and Markets being held locally, where you will find many handmade and original gifts. Saturday 2nd;- Croom Xmas Market, 12.30pm to 5.30pm in the Town Park and Kilfinny will hold their Market in the Hall from 6.30pm. Sunday 3rd, Bruree Fair in the Hall, 12pm - 4pm.
Thursday 7th, Christmas Fest at An tIonad Glas, Drumcollogher Organic College, 4pm to 8pm. Friday 8th, St. Joseph's Foundation, Market, 11am to 3pm, in their campus at Bakers' Rd. Saturday 9th Cottage Market, Kilmallock, 11am to 12.30pm. A Christmas gift for someone who has everything !!!!
These three organisations -Trocáire, Concern and Bóthar, have an online gift shop where you can purchase practical gifts such as pigs, chickens, rabbits, trees etc, to help the many poor all over the world.

KNOCKFIERNA HERITAGE;
Delighted to say a big crowd turned up for the Film Show last weekend and it brought back great memories. It was wonderful to have some of those performers present who appeared on the DvD - Mrs. Mary Noonan, Ballyelan, Joanne Treacy, David & John O'Riordan. Thanks to Pat O'Donovan for sharing this unique piece of history.
BBC featured the Knockfierna programme again lately and now an American television crew will be arriving for three days filming in early December. The New Year's Day Walk will be held on Monday 1st Jan at 2.30pm with a bonfire at 4.30pm. This will be followed by a rambling house session.
LISKENNETT CONCERT:
If you weren't there, then you missed a great evening's entertainment.!! Well done to all the organisers and especially the Artistes who gave their time for free. Locals included, David Griffin, Bruree who has a wonderful tenor voice, it would be great to hear more from him. Rudy Pica, Ballingarry gave a wonderful exhibition of Irish dancing. Susan Moran and her brothers rocked the place and have a great sound. Liam O'Connor, himself, is a extremely talented accordion player, who has toured with Michael Flatley and gave a wonderful performance.
Special Guest Michéal O Muircheartaigh had travelled from Donegal to be present and spoke passionately about hurling and football, and the cúpla focal were used in most sentences. He is still a beautiful speaker with that lovely Blás and he had the full attention of the audience. He very kindly took time afterwards to stand in for photos and sign autographs. Sending our best wishes to Grace McCarthy and wishing her a speedy recovery after her recent operation. Granagh Players will have to try and manage without her wonderful artwork for their upcoming play.
