APRIL SHOWERS ?


FITNESS CLASSES:

HEART SCREENING:

Pulsewave Ireland will be attending the Rathkeale House Hotel on Thursday 6th April, 11am - 8pm. They will check blood pressure, heart rhythm, arterial flexibility and blood flow. €30pp. Call 087-7151623 for appointment.

MASS COLLECTION:

This coming weekend the Irish Heart Foundation will hold their annual collection at both masses on 8th & 9th April.

SPRING FAIR:​

Spring Fair time - Sunday, April 9th, at 1.30 p.m at the Foundation’s Campus on Baker’s Road.

They are appealing for items for any of the following stalls - Cakes, Books, Toys, Bottles, Wheel of Fortune, Home Produce, Euro Stall, etc. They really appreciate donations of unwanted items for these stalls, but they must be in good condition. If you are free on Saturday 8th to help with setting up, be there at 11.30am or 2pm. If you can volunteer to help out on the Sunday, be there at 11.30am.

ORGAN DONATION:

​" The Ultimate Act of Love ".

Organ Donor Awareness Week

​ takes place from 1st - 8th April. The focus of the week​

is to raise awareness about the ongoing and ever increasing demand for organ transplantation which relies on the public for ​their ​ donation​s ​. Its key message is that families need to talk​,​

and keep the reminders of their willingness to donate visible , ​ by carrying the organ donor card, downloading the Smartphone App and permitting Code 115 to be included on their driver’s license.Some 280 organ transplants were carried out in the Republic during 2016, ​due to t​he generosity of 77 families who donated a loved one’s organs​. Too many people continue to die while waiting for a kidney, heart, lung, liver or pancreas transplant​, there are 650 on a waiting list at present in this country. ?

​Light It Up Blue:​

Each April 2nd, Autism Speaks​,​ celebrates the start of its signature campaign, Light It Up Blue, for ​ World Autism Month​ (April)​. Thousands of iconic landmarks and buildings join homes and communities around the world to “ ​ Light​ it Up Blue” in support of people living with autism.

​Many events and educational activities take place ​ to increase understanding​,​ acceptance and further support people with autism.

N​ORTH CORK DRAMA:

The 65th North Cork Drama Festival is taking place this week at the Community Hall, Charleville, at 8.15pm nightly.

Wed 5th - Curtain Call Productions present ' Closer ' by Patrick Marber.

Thur 6th - Corofin Dramatic Society present ' The Cripple of Inishmaan ' by Martin McDonagh.

Fri 7th - D.A.D.S., Dunmore present ' The Odd Couple ' by Neil Simon.

Sat 8th - Bridge Drama present ' An Inspector Calls ' by J.B. Priestly at 7.30pm.

L​IFELONG LEARNING:

​The 7th Limerick Lifelong Learning Festival will run right across Limerick City and County, from Saturday 1st April to Friday 7th April, 2017. It will feature an exciting line up of over 200 events, all of which are FREE and open to all.​

Learning is promoted as fun with events including performances, taster sessions, tours, displays, lectures, walks, demonstrations and workshops. They take place right across Limerick in a variety of venues indoors and out, including on water, and in libraries, museums, colleges, resource, family & community centres, parks, on the streets. Limerick Lifelong Learning Festival has something for everyone – wherever you live, whatever your age is and whatever your particular interests may be.

F​AMILY RESOURCE CENTRE:

Chiropody ​will be held​ in ​the​ Resource Centre​ this​ Thursday 6th April from 10am - 12pm, €10 per person over 60. No appointment ne​cessary​. ​ For information please ring 069 - 68054​.

Over 60's Social Club beginning on Monday 10th April from 2pm, €3 per person Book Club beginning on Wednesday 12th April from 7pm - 8.30pm, €3 per person Ballingarry Walk from the Resource Centre beginning on Thursday 13th April from 7pm.

IBTS:

20 million people facing starvation in Africa - the greatest humanitarian crisis since World War II.. Aren't WE very lucky !!! Donations, however small, all help.

TLC 3:

Granagh is registered for the Team Limerick CleanUp which takes place Good Friday, April 14th. The TLC initiative is sponsored by the JP McManus Benevolent Fund and is spearheaded by Paul O’Connell, Limerick City and County Council, Mr Binman; the Limerick Leader and Live 95FM. Last year, 98 tonnes of waste was collected which equals about 3,900 wheelie bins !!

Organise the family to get out and do a clean- up on your road. Lead by example.

PARISH MISSION:

Our Mission will take place from Sunday 7th May to Friday 12th May. A brochure will be delivered to each home during this month giving all the details. Everyone is invited to attend, morning or evening sessions.

GET WELL:

PUBLIC LIGHTING:

Great to see some new and brighter public lights in the village, makes a huge difference, thanks to Cllr. Richard O'Donoghue.

CROOM STRICTLY:

Wishing the best of luck to Janice Twomey and Richard O'Donoghue as they prepare to take to the floor on Friday 7th at the Southcourt Hotel. No doubt they will give it their utmost. The customers in The Rock will be hoping Janice gives a demonstration of her steps, some night.!!
