NEWCASTLE WEST SHOW:

Will be held in Ballynoe, Castlemahon on this coming Sunday 17th from 10am. Features include - Horse Show, Dressage, Cattle, Goats, Sheep & Poultry. Dog Show, Bonny Baby, Pet Section, Farrier Display, Bouncing Castles and Trade Stands. At 3pm the Grand National Donkey Derby will take place, something for nearly everyone.

MAUREEN'S DAY TRIP:

Day trip on this coming Sunday 17th July, leaving Newcastle West at 8.30am, for the Ring of Kerry. Breakfast and Dinner at The River Island Hotel. Contact Maureen on 087 - 9845102 if interested.

RETIREMENT:

Congratulations to Tommy Moynihan, Ballyagran, on his retirement from the County Council after forty years of service. He has been foreman in the Kilmallock area since 1987 and has seen to many road repairs in Granagh down the years. Best wishes to Tommy and his wife Helen for a long, happy and healthy retirement

GRISTON BOG: If you are looking for a different kind of day out, Griston Bog one kilometre outside Ballylanders village, is the place. The area has been developed with a railed boardwalk, picnic table and a hut with display panels of the local flora and fauna. Every Wednesday morning from 10.30-12.00 during July, Ballyhoura Outdoor Classroom will be hosting guided tours . During the tour, visitors can enjoy the history and geography of how the bog has evolved from Ice Age to present day. In addition, there is an invaluable insight into how ways of life have changed over thousands of years. The tour is very popular with all age groups and is suitable for children (games included), active retired, families, tourists and groups. Adm. €4 per adult, €3 per child / Senior Citizen, Under 4s free, Buggy & wheelchair friendly. Free car parking. Pre-booking is essential as spaces are limited.
