ORGAN DONOR WEEK:

There are approximately 700 people in Ireland awaiting life-saving heart, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas transplants.

Thanks to the gift of organ donation over 3000 people in Ireland are enjoying extended life.​ ​

In 2015​ -​ 266 organs were transplanted, 233 were as a result of the generosity of the families of 81 deceased donors​. The focus of Organ Donor Awareness Week is to raise awareness about the ongoing and ever increasing demand for organ transplantation which relies on the public​,​ for organ donation. ​ ​

Its key message is that families need to talk and keep the reminders of their willingness to donate visible ​, ​ by carrying the organ donor card, downloading the Smartphone App and permitting Code 115 to be included on their driver’s license. Organ Donor Cards can also be obtained by phoning the Irish Kidney Association LoCall 1890 543639 or Freetext the word DONOR to 50050. Visit website www.ika.ie It is now possible to store an organ donor card, the ‘ecard’ on Smart mobile phones. Simply search for ‘Donor ECard’ at the IPhone Store or Android Market Place.

USED STAMPS:

Instead of throwing away your stamps, please collect and donate them. They are used to raise much needed funds for research into Motor Neurone Disease. Please contact Maureen Finnegan 087-9845102.

CLOTHES COLLECTION:

The Parent's Association of Granagh National School are holding their clothes collection on Friday 15th April. They will accept old clothes

​, shoes, handbags etc. Bags can be dropped at the school from 3pm - 7pm on Thursday 14th or else on Friday morning.​

SPRING BREAK:

Just heard that Maureen Finnegan, Newcastle West has 2 remaining seats on her trip to Cavan Crystal Hotel, from Sunday 24th to Wednesday 27th April. Touring by day and dancing by night in the Hotel. On the itinerary are visits to St. Mel's, Longford, two cathedrals in Armagh, Cardinal Tómas O'Fiaich Library and Cavan Crystal. Contact Maureen on 087-9845102.

MIDAS:

Mary I Dramatic and Musical Society return to the Lime Tree Theatre for their fifth and most ambitious musical yet, following last year's sold out success of Les Misérables.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ​ ' ​Starlight Express​ ' ​ is a magical story of trains, speed and song. Starlight Express made history by becoming one of the longest-running West End shows after it opened in 1984. It has a vibrant rock score​ but ​it​ made its name for its fast pace, amazing visuals and innovative staging, which has to be seen to be believed.​

Rarely performed, this is a show with memorable music, costumes and staging.​ ​

It will feature a large company of students f​rom​ the College,
