Well Done Olivia.


CONGRATULATIONS:

​Olivia Bennett, Graigacurra, a student of the Musica Fusion School, Charleville, is after successfully auditioning for the Irish Youth Guitar Orchestra. She will be one of the youngest students, the usual age group is 17 - 23. During the coming Summer, she will be playing with them in the National Concert Hall and other venues around the country. ​Olivia has been a student of Susie Butler's since she (Susie) began teaching in Granagh in 2007 and has always made time for lots of practise. Very well done Olivia and enjoy the experience. It looks like next Summer's holidays are already planned out for Marie and John.

TEA DANCING:

“Christmas Fest” on Thursday December 17th from 5pm - 8pm.

Christmas Market ​ with a wide range of stalls selling crafts and food gifts including delicious chutneys, jams, home baking, plants ​ and jewellery You can also pick up natural gifts like Christmas Wreaths, hand-made soaps, balms and luxurious treats. There will be face painting for children and to relax visitors will get to enjoy tea & coffee, hot chocolate, homemade cakes ​ and Broadford Youth Choir will be​ singing Christmas Carols W​hat better way to celebrate ​ than to support local community enterprises and come home with a ​unique Christmas gifts. ​ Money spent locally will recycle within the community as well as giving the buyer top quality food and crafts. Y​OUTH MASS​ ​:​

​​This coming Saturday night,

19th at 7.00pm, the members of Granagh Youth Club host their first Youth Mass. We eagerly looking forward to this celebration. ​Huge credit is due to the members who have, (totally on their own initiative and without any prompting from adults), decided they wanted to do this. Over recent months at their Club they have prepared the mass together. We congratulate them on th​eir initiative and hope all the parish will convey ​ their​ appreciation ​ by attending.​ All welcome for some light refreshments in the Hall afterwards.

CHURCH NEWS:​

Christmas Reflection: - ​Sunday 20th Dec, 7-8pm, Granagh Church. Come along for an hour to welcome Jesus, this Christmas. No need to say or do anything, just be there.! Take time to reflect, pray, listen to music, song, scripture. Last year it was a lovely experience and everyone welcome. ​Confessions​: - Saturday 19th, before & after Mass. Monday 21st Dec, visiting priests will attend in Ballingarry at 7pm and Granagh at 8pm. ​Xmas Masses:​ - Thursday 24th: Granagh, 6.30pm. Ballingarry, 8.30pm. Friday 25th: Granagh 10.00am. Ballingarry 11.30am.

Parish Readers and Eucharistic Ministers: ​ A letter addressed to you has been left for collection by you on the Altar Rails in your local church. If you can at all you might drop in and pick it up in the next day or two. ​Envelope Distributors​: - The parish thanks all our voluntary ‘Distributors’ for their continued loyal service. Your boxes for distribution are now available at the usual pick-up places. Remembrance Tree: - Family members who are missing for Christmas can be remembered by writing their names on in the Christmas tree in the Church.

​​ADULT CHOIR: Rehearsals for Christmas on Tuesday 22nd at 7pm. All welcome to join us for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

SCÓR: Congratulations to the ​ six​ girls performing " ​ Emigration and a n American Wake"

​who became Munster champions at the weekend. Well done to Therese Noonan, Aislinn Herlihy, ​Caoimhe O'Flynn, Olivia Bennett, Grainne Lynch and Nessa Houlihan. Not forgetting their coaches and parents too, of course.

BUTTERFLY CLUB THANKS:

A collection for the Club was taken up on the weekend of 5/6th December at both Churches. Amounts collected, in Granagh €69.40 and Ballingarry €353.31. Thank you for your generosity.

MUSICA FUSION CONCERT:

A wonderful charity concert, held in the Community Centre last Sunday, collected €626.50,

for Limerick Animal Welfare The students and teachers ​ of Susie Butler's Musica Fusion School in Charleville visited Granagh , ( some for the very first time )​ and provided fabulous ​entertainment for the large crowd present. ​ We had nineteen different musical items​ and over ninety children performing.

​The seventeen ' Little Musicas ' , four to five years old, did a great job on ' We will Rock You ' .​ There were seventeen in 'The Illumiaties' group and they performed - ' Beat It, Time of Your Life, Wonderwall and I'm Yours' . We had ' The Musica Minions ' who sang and played - ' Girls just wanna have Fun, Lazy Song and Seven Nation Army'.

The Musica Fusion Orchestra, with thirty one members, performed ' Over the Rainbow and Sesame Street theme. They were conducted by Sophie Butler with Cailinn Noonan as Leader. Instruments included, Violins 1,2 and 3, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Recorder, Trumpet, Trombone and Percussion.

We had a variety of Ensembles then, - Violins, Double Bass, Classical Guitar, Brass & Wind, the Senior Quartet and Trad Group. All students, accompanied by the Orchestra finished with Deck the Halls and of course, Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Congratulations and thanks to all the students and teachers for such an entertaining evening.

BABY NEWS:

Congratulations to Grainne and Denis Noonan, Kilmore on the safe arrival of their first baby boy, Donnacha Gerard. He arrived a few days early and weighed in at 8lbs 6ozs. As they will be up now during the night, they will surely get to hear the Reindeer passing !
