Scór prevail in Granagh-Ballingarry

Granagh-Ballingarry will take part in West Scór na nOg for the first time since winning the Question Time in 1998 at Ardagh Community centre this Sunday 15th November at 2.30pm sharp.

Scór na nOg and Scór Sinsear is a G.A.A. competition that was set up by the G.A.A. in 1969 with the aim of promoting Ireland’s traditional pastimes and culture. It gives members the opportunity to meet up during the winter months to have fun and represent their club in a number of different events. There are eight events in Scór na nOg that cover all aspects of Irish culture: figure dancing, solo singing, recitation, instrumental music, drama/novelty act, ballad group, set dancing, and a table quiz with teams of four. This will be a straight county final at Ballybrown clubhouse on Friday 20th November.

Granagh-Ballingarry have achieved success at divisional, Munster and national level in senior Scór: West solo singing: Anne Hartnett (Ballingarry) 1976, 1979, 1983, 1094; Mary Herlihy (Granagh) 1981, Johnny O'Riordan (Granagh-Ballingarry) 203, 2004, 2005. Joan Sheehy (Granagh) was successful at divisional 1977 and 1919, Munster 1977 and national level 1977 in recitation.

Granagh-Ballingarry can claim 7 West Scór na nOg titles: ballad group (Ballingarry) 1983, instrumental music 1996, recitation Emma Chawke 1996, 1997, Question Time 1996, 1997 and 1998.

Granagh-Ballingarry will take part in the following events in the 2015 West finals at Ardagh Community Centre this Sunday, 15th November, at 2.30pm: recitation by Mark O'Shea, solo singing Gráinne Lynch, instrumental music Therese Noonan, and drama/novelty act Therese Noonan, Aislinn Herlihy, Caoimhe Flynn, Olivia Bennett, Gráinne Lynch and Nessa Noonan. Thank you to Kathy Noonan and Maura Friel Lynch for their help and cooperation in getting the boys and girls together. Your support would be welcome at Ardagh Community hall on Sunday to cheer on the boys and girls in their bid to bring the first West Scór na nOg medals to Granagh-Ballingarry since 1998.

Club draw winners

Winners in the October Granagh-Ballingarry G.A.A. club draw held on Friday 6th November in Gorman’s shop, Granagh: €400 Jim Kennedy, The Grove, Ballingarry; €100 Martha O'Connor, €100 Timmy O'Gorman, €100 Liam Casey and family. We thank all our punters for their support. the date for the November draw is still to be confirmed.

West U21 B Football Championship round 1

Granagh-Ballingarry travel to Mick Neville Park Rathkeale this Sunday, 14th November, for their first game in the West U21 B Football Championship at 6.30pm. thre teams, St. Senan's, St Kieran's and Granagh-Ballingarry, are in this championship played on a league system in one group with the top team to qualify for the final and the second and third placed teams to play in the semi-final. Your support would be appreciated on Saturday for Granagh-Ballingarry and their management team of Niall McCarthy, Niall Carroll, Seán Lenihan and Michael Clancy.

Bord na nOg meeting

Granagh-Ballingarry Bord na nOg meeting about finance is tomorrow Thursday 12th November at 8pm in the clubhouse. All club members are asked to attend.

West convention

The West Limerick G.A.A. board will review a very successful year at their annual convention in the Devon Inn, Templeglantine, on Wednesday 25th November, after a 7.30pm Mass for deceased members, relatives and friends of the G.A.A. Jim Lynch of Granagh-Ballingarry is nominated to contest the vacant position of assistant secretary. Granagh-Ballingarry will be presented with their West Junior B Hurling Championshipand Senior Hurling Championship medals and Granagh-Ballingarry/Rathkeale with their West Minor A Hurling Championship medals.

U14s retain cup

On Sunday morning in difficult wet and wintry conditions Granagh-Ballingarry U14 hurlers lined out against Rathkeale in the annual game for the Liam English Cup. In a very sporting game Granagh-Ballingarry came out on top, and captain Adam Long was presented with the Liam English Cup by Rose and John English. The Granagh-Ballingarry club would like to thank Rathkeale for facilitating the game and for the wonderful spread for both teams and supporters after the game.

West intermediate hurling final

Saturday 21st November in Dromcollogher at 2.30-m are the arrangements for the eagerly awaited clash of holders Feohanagh-Castlemahon and recently crowned West senior champions Granagh-Ballingarry in the West Intermediate Hurling Championship final. this promises to be a thrilling contest between two evenly matched sides who finished level in a thrilling Dunworth Cup final on Saturday 23rd August. It should draw a large crowd to Dromcollogher on Saturday week to see if Feohanagh-Castlemahon can win it for the third time and make it two in a row or if Granagh-Ballingarry can win it for the first time and make it a historic West senior and intermediate double. €10,300 jackpot on Monday

The numbers drawn in the Granagh-Ballingarry G.A.A. lottery on Monday 9th November in the Rock were 1, 10, 11 and 32. The jackpot was not won. Lucky dips of €20 each: Bridie O'Donnell, Kieran Flannery, Mark Noonan, Pascal Moynihan and Martin Noonan. The next draw is on Monday 16th November in Dinny’s bar Ballingarry for a jackpot of €10,300. We thank all our punters for their continued support.
