YOUTH CLUB:

Friday 11th Sept at 8.00pm will see the official opening of the newly formed youth club. Adm €2, All welcome. Cllr Richard O'Donoghue will cut the tape to get the ball rolling. The Club will run once a month and they will have a shop each night. Congratulations to the parents for taking the initiative and the young people for getting involved.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION:

Saturday 12th, Sept, Parent's Council of Coláiste Na Trocaire, Rathkeale, will be collecting at Saturday night's Mass. Please support if you can.

AUTISM CENTRE:

Friday 18th September at 3.00pm, Liskennett Autism Centre are holding their official opening. All welcome to attend and see

how much has been achieved over the last few years. See the beautiful apartments, the equestrian centre and the Sensory Walk funded by Teamdaveriordan. Sue Ann Foley will perform the official opening.

HIP- HOP CLASSES:

Hip Hop Dancing classes will begin in Granagh Community Centre on Tuesday 6th October with dancing instructor Kate Upton.

Classes will run from 4pm - 5pm for ages 5 - 8yrs and 5pm - 6pm for 9 - 12yr olds. €5 per class. All are welcome. Contact Maureen on 087 - 6644146, if interested.

GRANAGH PEBBLES:

First week down for the after-school children in the beautifully transformed room in the community centre. Natalie is still taking bookings for either full time or days. Open from 2pm to 6pm daily.

SPEECH & DRAMA:

Tutor, Emma Chawke, will be commencing her classes again this month on Mondays. Emma achieved an honours diploma in Speech and Drama in 2003 and has been teaching classes since. She is also a secondary school Music and English teacher.

The benefits of classes to children are immense - it builds your child's skills at reading and speaking, increases their confidence and now complements the new junior cert curriculum. To book a place, contact Emma on 087-2829876

INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY JOBS:

St. Joseph’s Foundation, in collaboration with the LCETB are planning to run a Local Training Initiative (LTI) programme in Liskennett, Granagh, Co. Limerick. The programme is called Intellectual Disability Practice QQI (Fetac) Level 5 and will run for 40 weeks, starting Monday 9th November. This LTI programme will prepare people who wish to work in the intellectual disability sector. For more information, contact St. Joseph’s Foundation on tel. 063-89252.

WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY

Thursday 10th Sept. 6.45pm: Charleville Suicide Awareness Project are holding an event at the Plaza, Main Street, Charleville, to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. The event will see the release of 250 white balloons and 4 white doves to remember all who have died by suicide in Charleville and surrounding areas. There will be music and light refreshments available and it would be great to see as many people there as possible. Further details from Margaret O'Callaghan on tel. 086-3576109.

Cork Education and Training Board offer the following courses at Mannix College Charleville : One-to-One Literacy Tuition, Reading & Writing, Numeracy, Basic Computers, ESOL – English for Speakers of Other Languages, Family Learning, General Learning Level 3, Food & Nutrition Level 4, Upholstery, Skills For Work, Traveller Health, Healthcare Level 5, Customer Service Level 4, Retail Skills Level 4. FETAC Level 3 Taster Course in Food & Nutrition & Career Planning on Thursday Mornings, 10am to 1pm, for 12 weeks (proposed start - 17th September). JOBSEEKERS:

Ballyhoura Development is now implementing SICAP, a national programme that aims to tackle social exclusion and equality issues. A wide range of supports are available throughout the Ballyhoura area in collaboration with community organisations and public sector agencies. There is a focus on supporting individuals to help them move closer to the labour market, by improving work readiness and supporting them in accessing employment.

Exploring Your Options: - " Career Planning and Personal Development Programme for Jobseekers” which is now being offered in Charleville. Over this ten hour programme (four sessions), participants explore the value of work and the effects of unemployment on themselves and on society. It also looks at the person’s needs, interests, values, and skills in relation to work, as well as skills gaps that may need to be worked on. The programme is wrapped up with developing an individual career path and action plan for the participant.

Also available, through the Benefit4 programme, " Kick-Start Your Career through Basic Computers ", delivered by MobileIT, covers the basics of computing, using the internet for jobseeking, setting up your email for job hunting, researching prospective companies, sample CVs & cover letters, submitting online applications. The course is completed over eight hours (4 wks x 2 hour classes).

This October, a (FETAC Level 4 ) Home Repair and Maintenance programme will be delivered by FRS Training and will cover topics such as painting & decorating, plumbing, tiling, electrical work, and health & safety. CYCLE,WALK,RUN:

Sunday 27th Sept is the big fund- raising day for St. Joseph's Foundation, Charleville. Two cycle choices - 27km / 90km beginning at 10.00am, €25.

The Walk/Run is over 4km / 10km and begins at 11.00am, €10. You can Register at the main reception in St. Josephs' any day of the week, 9.00am to 4.30pm, up to the 25th. If you would like to support their Monster Draw, tickets are only €2 each - 1st prize €500. 2nd prize Adult Hybrid Bike. 3rd prize €200.

LOVE YOUR DOGS:

This September dogs can be chipped for Free at participating veterinary clinics. Check outwww.NCM.ie for the list of participating vets.
