PARISH MEETING:

Tue 21st May at 8.00pm, in the Community Centre. Discussion on the future of the Parochial House. A letter will be delivered to each home also and we hope that a representative from every house will attend. This is the opportunity to voice your opinions on this valuable property.

RATHFREDAGH:

Preparations are in hand for their upcoming Fair in July. They are accepting the following items for their stalls, which must be in saleable condition - clothing, shoes, handbags, teddies, bric-a-brac. Items can be dropped to the reception at Rathfredagh.

TROCÁIRE:

Thank You. The money from the Trocáire boxes plus the donations have been counted and lodged. A fantastic total of €3,221.05 was collected between both parishes. As ever the need for help is constant, Famine, Wars, Earthquakes & Floods, causing death & destruction. Essential services have been decimated which is compounding the already grave humanitarian crises worldwide. The road ahead will continue to be a difficult one and the needs are many but Trócaire and their partners will continue to support families and communities in the months and years ahead.

TIDY TOWNS ENTRY:

As a result of suggestions, Granagh Development has sent off an entry to the Tidy Towns, for the first time. We look forward to hearing what the judges think and what they will suggest to improve the parish. The assessment is carried out by an independent panel of adjudicators appointed by the Department of Rural and Community Development and takes place during the months of June, July and August, on a date which is not specified.

The minimum adjudication area is approximately one kilometre in all directions from the centre of the area, which will probably be the Church. Each entrant is assessed under eight criteria with a total of 470 marks available as follows : Community-Your Planning & Involvement 60 marks; Streetscape & Public Places 60; Green Spaces & Landscaping 60; Nature & Biodiversity in your Locality 50; Sustainability-Doing more with less 50; Tidiness & Litter Control 90; Residential Streets & Housing Areas 50; Approach Roads, Streets & Lanes 50:
