AGM Time.

CHIROPODY:

Thursday 5th October from 10am - 12pm, €10 per person over 60, in Ballingarry Family Resource Centre. No appointment necessary.

CAROL's COFFEE MORNING:

​Friday 6th October, 11am - 1pm.​ Carol Aherne's home, Knockfierna.

Spinal Injuries Ireland (SII) is the only support and service agency in Ireland for people ​ and their families,

who have sustained a spinal cord injury​, ​Caro​l is very grateful for the support​ she has received from them​

and would like to give something back. They provide a person centred service to assist people to engage fully in society. ​ All welcome, donate whatever you can.

YOUTH CLUB:​

Registration and Opening night on Friday 6th October, 7.30pm - 9.30pm. Parents must sign registration forms on the night and also sign out their child at end of night. Yearly fee of €10 per child, €8 for a second, €5 for a third. Nightly fee €2 each.

The Club is also looking for new Volunteers. Anyone that might be interested, may come along on Friday night also.

CHURCH NEWS:

Saturday 7th Oct, Harvest Mass, 7pm: No Envelopes this weekend, instead bring some Food. To give thanks for the blessings and privileges we have received. Locally, we have not been affected by major flooding, famine, hurricanes, earthquakes. We have food to eat, clean water to drink and a roof over our heads - Millions do not have these basic needs. While we cannot help everyone, we can help those in need, in our own area. All food collected will be given to the Simon Community and the local St. Vincent de Paul, to distribute. Anything non perishable, unopened and in date will be acceptable.

Important Dates: Granagh. First Holy Communion, Saturday 28th April and Confirmation, Friday 11th May. Ballingarry: First Communion Saturday 19th May and Confirmation Friday 4th May.

FAMILY FUN DAY:

Sunday 8th Oct, 1pm - 5pm, will be held in Mary Immaculate College, to launch World Meeting of Families. All free of charge with Food stalls, Mobile Farm, Face Painting, Archery, Obstacle Course & Water Zorbs.

DEVELOPMENT ASSOC:

​A.G.M. Tuesday 10th October, at 8.30 pm, Community Centre. We welcome all new members. To become a member of the Committee once you attend the AGM, you are automatically elected. It is always a good plan keeping an organisation fresh and vibrant, by having new members join. They bring new ideas and skills and will ensure its continuation over the years.

GIVE BLOOD:

The next opportunity to give blood will be on Thursday 12th Oct, 5pm - 8pm, at the South Court Hotel, Raheen.

Dr. JANE SANDERS:

Thursday 12th Oct, 8pm, UCH, Limerick: As part of the I.NY initiative and the Annie Moore Talks, Dr. Jane O'Meara Sanders has been invited to the University and will be in conversation with Joseph O'Connor, award winning novelist and Chair of Creative Writing in UL.

Born in Brooklyn to Irish parents, Dr. Jane O’Meara Sanders is a founding member of the Sanders Institute. She was also at the centre of the 2016 American presidential election as wife of, and senior political advisor to, Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders.

She will discuss the 2016 Presidential election, and the current political climate in America, her own Irish heritage and the influence of Irish art, music and literature on her life.

Governance Skills Training:

Thursday 12th October at 7pm at Knocklong Community Centre. Ballyhoura Development are once again organising Training programmes for members of community-based, not-for-profit organisations. It will be of interest to the trustees, directors, officers, staff of Companies Limited by Guarantee, co-operatives, community businesses and social enterprises.

Delivered by Mairead O’Connor, Training & Advice Coordinator with The Wheel, she will speak on "Using The Governance Code: A guide to how, not-for-profit & community organisations are run, directed and controlled ” .

With the continually changing landscape of the community and charity sector, these workshops aim to improve knowledge and skills around community group structures; leadership and governance; improving knowledge of committee/board roles and responsibilities; financial transparency and accountability; successful fundraising.All programme events are free​,​ though advance bookings should be made through David O’Grady, Development Officer with Ballyhoura Development by email: dogrady@ballyhoura.org or tel. 063-20511.

L​IME TREE:

Saturday 14th Oct, 3pm. ​Bualadh Bos Children's Festival returns to the Lime Tree Theatre and Belltable for its fou​r​th year​. One of their interesting and fun events is 'Trash Test Dummies'. Three highly skilled circus performers showcase a stunning array of acrobatics, juggling and stunt work using the common wheelie bin.... ​

M​20 Business Breakfast:

​Friday October 20th in Charleville Park Hotel at 7.30 am​ - 9.30am​ ​

Charleville Chamber of Commerce will be holding ​this​ Business Breakfast ​and the main topic of discussion is the M 20 Cork to Limerick Motorway​ and t​he challenges and opportunities facing existing businesses in

​the​ area. MC: Mairead Lavery​,​ Editor Irish Country Living - Farmers Journal​ will introduce guest speakers - ​ Michael Creed - TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and The Marine​, William H Batt - ​Indecon, ​Verona Murphy - President Irish Road Haulage Association​ and David Fitzsimons - CEO Retail Excellence Ireland​.​

HIP-HOP RETURNS:

Classes have resumed from Tuesday 3rd October, 6pm - 7pm weekly, in the Community Centre. For ages 7 - 13 yrs, all welcome.

HATHA YOGA:

Classes will continue with Eileen in the Community Centre, each Sunday at 11.00am. Take time for You, improve your flexibility and stretch out all those tense muscles. Class duration is 75 mins, bring a mat and a cosy blanket.

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE:

In the Ballingarry centre, you can avail of the following services and courses. Phone: 069 - 68054 for further information. Parent/Baby/Toddler Group every Monday morning from 10.30am - 12pm Arts Class every Tuesday from 2pm - 5pm Core IT every Friday from 10am - 1pm.
