Tractor Run for 'Slim Jim'

TRACTOR RUN:

In Honour of Jim Moloney.

At very short notice, Richard O'Donoghue and team put out a call on 8th June looking for support for a tractor run for ' Slim Jim ' Moloney, as they found out that he would be arriving home. Using facebook, texts and phones, the word went out....

On Sunday 11th the sun shone out as traffic began to build up from 9.30am. Seamus & Janice opened The Rock early to accommodate the crowd, supplying tea, coffee and wonderful hospitality.

Padraig Broderick, Spar, Croom supplied the hot food and many people supplied sandwiches. Spot prizes began to build up and the donation buckets began to fill. People arrived to chat to Jim, delighted to find him in good form. Silage contractors brought their machines and the vintage clubs from Greybridge, Charleville and West Limerick brought their cars, vans and tractors.

Soon all the parking spots were full, so many thanks to Conor Curtin for allowing his field to be used to hold the overflow.

Richard has been on many Vintage runs and this was the biggest ever that he was involved in - with over one hundred tractors, five loading shovels, trucks, vans and cars. It was great to see Jim leading out the run in one of the loading shovels, which was his life. Thanks to all the stewards and volunteers for the help, it couldn't have been done without you. A wonderful turnout and a fantastic tribute to Jim from colleagues and friends.
