P​ARENTS' ASSOC:

Clothes Collection​, Thursday 17th​:

​Please donate your unwanted clothes & textiles, mobile phones & laptops to raise funds for the Granagh National School Parents' Assoc. Any re-wearable ​clothes, paired shoes, belts,handbags, curtains, towels, bed linen, soft toys are acceptable. Please keep mobiles and laptops in a separate bag. Please drop off items at the school, this Thursday, between 3pm and 7pm or before 9.30am on Friday 18th. Thank you for your support.

GARDEN TALK:​

​Cuan Mhuire Garden Centre, Bruree, welcome Charlie ​W​ilk​i​ns​ ​-​ ​one of Ireland's best known Gardeners​ - for the afternoon​​on ​Sat​urday​ 19th ​M​ay from 2pm-5pm​. All are very welcome​, should be most interesting.

Y​OGA:

The next set of classes began last weekend and continues on Sunday 20th May, at 11am, in the Community Centre. Never too late to start exercising, good for the mind and body. All Welcome.

M​OVE FOR LIFE:​'

Move ​for ​Life​ '​ are looking for 300 people from Limerick who are aged 45+ and would like to become more active. ​ ​They will provide each ​group​ with four fun physical activity programmes:​ - i.e.​ Women on Wheels,

​ ​Get Ireland Walking, Men on the Move and Go for Life Games. ​ All programmes will run for 8-12 weeks. It is a great opportunity to meet others and to help you live a more active and healthy lifestyle.​

​If you would like to be involved call to Croom Civic Centre for health check and induction ​on

Wednesday 23rd​, 6pm to 10pm. If you cannot make it this time, the next date is Wednesday

PARISH OFFICE:

The new parish office is now up and running, located in Ballingarry Church. Secretary, Marian, will be working there on Tuesdays and Fridays, 10.00am - 2.00pm. Contact number, 069 - 68661 or email - balgranparish@gmail.com

Because of the new Data Protection laws coming into effect, the secretary is bound by these regulations. In effect it means that anything containing personal information, can only be given to the person to whom it belongs. For example, if collecting a Cert, you need to ring beforehand and also provide proof of identity, when collecting.

EFFIN GAA - CANCER FUNDRISER​:

​June Bank Holiday Week-end: ​There is not a single house in this country that has not been touched by Cancer. ​ ​

Milford Hospice in Limerick and Marymount Hospice in Cork have provided tremendous support to those battling cancer and to families supporting those going through a difficult time. These organisations rely on donations and support from local communities to continue to provide ​ a top quality service. ​ ​Please

support ​the ​Effin community​, over the June bank holiday weekend​ as ​they gather together to help raise some funds to support Cancer Care in ​the​ region.​ ​They have a variety of events - Pub Quiz, Hurling & Camogie Blitz and 3 Ball Scramble.

GLEN GARDEN WALK:​

S​unday 17th June:​ Lady Harrington will open her Flower & Veg Gardens in aid of Kilpeacon Church renovation fund. The Development Association members will be serving Teas on the day and there will be a plant stall also. It is always a lovely evening, especially if the sun shines.

R​ATHFREDAGH:

S​aleable items for ​​the bric-a-brac stalls ​at​ the Rathfredagh Garden Fete can be ​dropped​ in​ anytime from now. ​ ​Please​​ no​te, No​ electrical goods. ​!!!​​ ​

Items for the books stall and clothes stalls can be brought in also. Please use your own judgment

​on​ what to bring in​, items have to be in good condition to be re-sold​. ​ ​Vintage is fine as long as it is in good shape. ​ ​Books with water damage or missing covers won't sell​.. This is a huge annual fundraiser for Rathfredagh and they really appreciate your support.​

C​OMMUNITY RESPONSE TEAM:

There is now an out of hours crisis response team for anyone in suicidal distress in Limerick City and County. They operate 7 nights a week, 5pm - 6am. They can be reached by call or text on 085 - 1777631. See their web page: www.ccrtireland.ie

C​ONGRATULATIONS:

** Well done to Eoin Horgan on being selected on this years Limerick Primary Schools Football team. ​ ​

Eoin will line out during the half time interval of the Limerick v Clare Senior Football Championship game on Saturday May 19th. ​ ​

Eoin was also part of the West Mackey hurling team who were narrowly beaten by the South in the Mackey Cup semi-final last week.

** Congratulations to the pupils of St. Josephs' who received their Communion and Confirmation over the last few weeks. Luckily the weather held up and we hope they all ​ enjoyed the festivities. Fourteen pupils received Communion and nineteen received their Confirmation. ​

​ Special thanks to their teachers, parents and Sr. Margaret ​ ​for all the preparations.​

** C​ongratulations to the Granagh Utd. U16s, Div 2 champions, unbeaten for the season. ​Well done to coaches Timmy Kelleher and Kevin Clifford and nurse Louise Enright.

** Finally, congratulations to Bernie Carroll, managing director of Student Programmes Ireland who recently received All Star Accreditation - Social Entrepreneur (Cultural Exchange) 2018, at the All-Ireland business Summit in Croke Park. A fantastic achievement.
