4-in-a-Row for Camogies:

CONGRATULATIONS:

Granagh/Ballingarry camogie club had a busy weekend of matches. The U13s played Newcastle West in the championship. The Juniors played their Plate final versus Knockaderry. Many thanks to Wayne McNamara, Mark O'Sullivan and Anne-Marie O'Keeffe for all their work throughout the year.

The Seniors defended their title versus Ahane on Sunday and made it the 4th County Final in a row. Credit must go to the players on this great achievement and especially to Gary Shanahan and Louise Enright on their tireless work all year, behind to the scenes.

A special mention to the U8s and U10s who played during half time.

HARVEST MASS:

Sincere thanks to all who brought their offerings to Mass last weekend. A long queue, waited to present the food donations, during the Offertory. The newly formed youth choir brought their gift of song, with the help of Roisín and Natalie. It is such a practical way of sharing our abundance of food and gifts with the less fortunate.

GOLDEN JUBILEE:

Congratulations to Jimmy and Maura Griffin, Liskennett, who just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

It is a wonderful achievement and unfortunately not every couple will get the chance to celebrate. What was happening in 1966 - The mini skirt hemlines gradually climbed. The TV show ' Star Trek' debuts in the US. Ronald Reagan entered politics, becoming Governor of California. The Vietnam war was in progress. Cassius clay defeats Henry Cooper in London. The Luna 9 Russian spacecraft landed on the moon. Popular bands of the time - The Beatles, The Monkees, The Rolling Stones. Colour TVs became popular and Pampers created the first disposable Nappy ! What alot of changes Jimmy and Maura have seen. Wishing them every happiness and continued good health into 2017.
