FIRST HOLY COMMUNION:

The Parent Preparation Programme for First Holy Communion 2016 begins on the First Week in September. All parents of children in Second Class, have already received their Enrollment Forms in the post. The closing date for return is next weekend [August 15th]. All families whose forms are back by the weekend will be invited to a meeting very shortly to complete the enrollment. Please ensure the completed form is returned by the weekend so that the programme materials can be ordered for your child and that you will receive your invitation to this meeting.

COLLECTION:

Saturday 22nd Aug & Sunday 23rd, The Irish Wheelchair Association will be holding their annual Church gate collection. Please support if you can.

RECENT CELEBRATIONS::

Congratulations to Niall Clifford on reaching his 21st Birthday which he celebrated with family and friends on Friday 7th August in The Ballintemple Inn. Good luck wishes to him for the future years ahead.

Wedding Anniversaries were celebrated by Jimmy & Kay Sheehy, Joe & Eileen Power , Paul & Catriona Kennedy, Ger & Amy Mullane varying somewhere between two years and twenty eight years.!! I'm sure there are lots more celebrations going on out there - I just don't get to hear about them. 4th August (1901) - Louis Armstrong's Birthday. 17th Aug (1920) - Maureen O'Hara's 95th Birthday. She was born in Dublin but now lives in Idaho. In 2014 she received and Honorary Academy Award for her acting career. Her favourite leading man was John Wayne.

18th August (1959) - 1st Rose of Tralee Festival. Roses represented Tralee, Dublin, London, Birmingham and New York. Alice 'OSullivan, Dublin won that year. Total costs came to £750. !!! It wasn't until 1967 that Teilifís Éireann broadcast the show with comperé Joe Lynch ( Dinny, Glenroe).

CLERKS COLLECTION:

Will be held on the weekend, 8th and 9th August. We have two excellent Clerks in the parish, Kathleen and Mary and for their time and commitment we should our sincere appreciation. They are present for all our family events, Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, Communions, Confirmations and every Mass. They are on duty 365 days of the year - very few people, if any do this.!! Please be as generous as you can, their envelope is in your Box.
