Granagh Players - No Turning Back Now.!!

January 22, 2020

Missing from photo - Janice Twomey & David Manning.

HOMELESS  COLLECTION:
Sat/Sun 25th/26th Jan:   A collection will be held for the Limerick homeless, before masses in Granagh & Ballingarry, this coming weekend.

GRANAGH PLAYERS:
We are delighted to welcome two more new members to our cast this year - Emma Noonan, Knockfierna and David Manning, Liskennett.   Introducing the remainder of the cast.   Steven Hickey plays two parts, he is Cllr. Belcher's nephew who lives in the leafy suburb of Donnybrook and also plays his driver and general helper.
Next we meet Royston Snapper ( Liam Houlihan) a fairly colourful and flamboyant character who likes the finer things in life but continually lives beyond his means.   He has been know to boast of his powerful position, makes up numerous lies and embellishes his situation to impress those around him  !!   His sidekick Frank (Vincent Griffin) graduated from a 'cozy doorway' near Temple Bar to Snapper's personal assistant.   He is half sorry for having got involved with him, but he is too cute at the same time and goes with the flow. !!    We meet Annie & Mary Belcher - Marylee Stapleton & Emma Noonan -  the councillor's wife and daughter.
Annie seems to be vain, naive and self-absorbed and gets over excited about the new arrival in town.
Mary might be a bit immature, as she gets carried away by all the fuss but then again she might not be as gullible as the rest of them.
Playing the part of one of the local shopkeepers is another new member, Carmel O'Carroll.  They seem to be a rowdy bunch and Kevin Fitzgibbon has a job to control them.!  We are also delighted to have David Manning, a resident of Liskennett, with us this year and he will be playing the part of Widdowson.   Accompanying the group in song will be Susan Moran and we will have Lily Hanley on guitar.
Performance Dates: - Fri 24th, Sat 25th, Sun 26th Jan.   Again the following weekend, Fri 31st Jan, Sat 1st & Sun 2nd Feb  at 8pm nightly.   In the Community Centre.  Tickets on the Door.   Adults E10.   Students E5.

They now face the Clare league in two weeks time in the final. Well done and best of luck in your preparations for the final.

PAROCHIAL HOUSE:
Granagh parochial house has been vacant for some time now and the property committee have been exploring different options.   Lots of ideas have been suggested but none of them have come to anything.  The running costs amount to E2,000  annually, which the parish cannot sustain indefinitely.   The committee have decided to  ' test the market ' to assess the current value of the property.   This doesn't mean the house will be sold shortly but the feedback may help direct them in their final decision.
