TROCÁIRE LENTEN CAMPAIGN.

" Love will Conquer Fear ". Fear is losing your home, livelihood and future. Love is helping families put their life back together.!! Kumba is the little 7 yr old girl pictured on this year's Trocaire Box. Last August, a landslide struck Kumba’s village, it took only 4 mins to destroy her community. Only 1 in 5 of those who lived in the path of the landslide survived. The majority of the people affected were poor, they were living in shacks in a high risk area. Some of them had bought the land from the Government and had everything tied up in it. A community worker who is helping people to come to terms with their grief and loss said “ Most of the children are quiet and withdrawn..Many cannot sleep, they have nightmares and flashbacks and they cry a lot. “ The families have had their livelihoods stripped away. With nowhere to live, Kumba, her mother and siblings are staying in a children’s home while her father lives with his brother. Please give what you can, a small gift can make such a difference. A gift of €10 will go towards helping mothers to read & write. €15 will go towards helping to supply Emergency Kits ( Food, water soap, towels, kettle, bucket, blanket, women’s underwear, plastic cups & plates, torch & hygiene items). €20 will help towards providing children with school kits. €25 will help towards providing families with Emergency Food Packs.

Please pick up this year's Trocáire Box in the Church.

Because you contribute – your kindness and compassion are changing lives for the better.
