Drama time is almost upon us.. it crept up there while we were enjoying the Christmas break, so now we have to move into top gear!! Marian and Billy are re-painting the set for us, while Martin and Shane got the large posters set up. We are hoping the Australian flu doesn't hit although their are plenty coughs and colds around. Seemingly, Jimmy Sheehy is offering a wide range of cures, once you have no problem taking liquids.!
We have twenty one in the cast this year and are delighted to welcome six new faces - Joe Power, Janice Twomey, Natalie Stapleton, Fiona Griffin, Aaron Noonan and John Kelly.
The Chastitute, John Bosco, tells his story from his own kitchen table. He recounts scenes from his past - the girls he has met and how he messed up his chances with them. He meets sweet innocent Julia ( Janice Twomey) and as they are seated in the Baby Ford .... I can't tell you what happens !! He meets Dora McMoo (Natalie Stapleton ) at the nurses dance in Cork, once again they end up in the Baby Ford ..... At the local bar he meets Norrie Macey ( Marian Sheehy) who is not impressed by him !!! He heads to Cork city again and meets the lovely Heather ( Margarite Lynch) along with her mother ( Patsy Power) and her brother (Paddy Tierney), for an eventful night !!! When he returns home, the new housekeeper, Mrs. Kishock ( Emma Chawke) has been installed. She seems aloof, a bit icy but can he thaw her ????
Opening weekend - Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st January and again the following weekend. 8pm in the Community Centre, raffle & shop nightly.
DONATE TO PENNY DINNERS:
If you do not want to have to eat the rest of the biscuits, chocolates etc leftover after Christmas - then drop them into the Vale Star Office, Charleville and they will deliver them to Penny Dinners - a great idea.

I happened to see a post on facebook, showing a young girl sitting in hospital with a drip connected to her arm. She had given birth and then had her left ovary, fallopian tube, and a 6lb tumour removed.
Shortly thereafter she was diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer. It is called the silent killer,
because the symptoms are so subtle that it is often caught too late. Currently, the odds of getting ovarian cancer are 1 in 58 (compared to 1 in 7 for breast cancer). Just to raise awareness, some of the signs are: -
Persistent stomach pain • Persistent bloating • Finding it difficult to eat or feeling full quickly
• Needing to pee more often • Back pain • Changes to bowel habits (constipation or diarrhoea)
• Feeling tired all the time.
If any or all of these are present, especially in women 40+, please PLEASE go see your doctor. You’re not wasting anyone’s time, you’re being smart and ensuring you’ll be around for the people you love.
Congratulations to Denise Kelly and fiance Dave on their engagement in December.
