Just a reminder. This is the time of the year we find an increase in break-ins and robberies. If you see any suspicious activity, get as many details as you can e.g. a reg number and report straight away to Gardaí in Newcastle West, 069-20650 or Bruff 061-382940. It is then up to the Gardaí to issue a text alert notice to the various groups.
General tips as the evenings get darker. Light up your house, darkness is the burglars friend. If you are away or only out for the night, leave outside lights on and have lamps on timers. As regards fire safety, check that smoke alarms are working. Have you one in your attic ?
Smoke alarms / carbon monoxide alarms are a very practical Christmas gift. Be sure that chimneys, oil burners and cookers get a yearly service. Plug out TVs, laptops and especially phone chargers, at night.
