Granagh/Ballingarry Camogie Notes 19th April 2016

Fixtures:

Senior League at home to Ballyagran on Thursday the 21st April at 6.30

U14s

Our U14s league campaign started with 2 tough opening matches to get the season underway. The opening match was against Ballyagran/Newtownshandrum and it proved to be a very tight affair with both sides playing excellently on the night. The match was end to end with both teams battling to the end. Unfortunately our own girls lost by 5 points but did very well considering it was their first match of the season.

The 2nd match on Sunday last was away to a very good Galbally side and on this occasion, Galbally came away with the full points. Galbally will prove to be very hard to beat this season by any team and will be the team to watch. Our girls played very well on the night and worked hard as a team and now look forward to taking part in the Feile Qualifiers this Saturday in Rathkeale.

U16s

Final score Granagh/Ballingarry 3-3

Templeglantine/Knockaderry 1_1

A great all round performance from the girls, we had early tussles from Aoife Curtin and Valerie Sheehy, Valerie staying very tight on her marker and as the game went on Valerie coming out on top . Very energetic performances from our 2 midfielders and great understanding fighting for every ball as though their life depended on it. We got early ball into our forward line and the girls battled for possession, Kayla getting our first score, a goal, brilliantly dispatched to the net giving the goalie no chance.

As the match progressed, the opposition came into the game, sending long ball into our backline. But Aislinn ,Ciara and Amy dealing with everything, with some great work from our half backs of Orla O’Doherty and Grace Purtill helping Valerie at every occasion giving supply to the half forward line of Roisin, Orla and Ciara. The girls put everything in to keeping possession and with Orla getting a point to leave us 1_1 to 0-0,

A few positional changes bringing Ciara English into the half forward line and Roisin into goals. Roisin who had put in a massive shift for the first half,

2nd half continued with our dominance with Ciara English scoring 1_1 and Kayla also scoring 1_1 to add to her goal in the first. Opposition scoring only a point. We had a late scare with they hit the crossbar, but came away with the result and a magnificent performance from the team, showing great attitude, desire and team spirit not to mention some lovely hurling, well done girls

Line up Ciara English,

Amy O’Sullivan, Ciara Sheehy, Aislinn Herlihy , Grace Purtill, Valerie Sheehy, Orla o Doherty, Ellen Murphy, Emer Gavin, Ciara o Doherty, Orla Lenihan (capt), Roisin O’Sullivan, Claire Houlihan, Anna Griffin, Kayla McCann
