GRANAGH BACKS AMANDA: We have a big community fundraising day coming up on Sunday 24th Oct, in aid of the Tierney family, Knockfierna. Amanda (nee O'Grady, Newtown) and Dan were married in Oct '13. They have four children, three of whom are on the autism spectrum. Amanda was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and has been undergoing treatment. Preparations are being made for a series of events on the day - vintage run, cycle, walk, raffle, cake sale and auction. D
It was great to see all the young people from Granagh United Soccer Club climbing the hill to raise funds for the club. Also a special mention for Davy and Niall for opening the gate and leaving it open for the three days. October is the month the Jack & Jill foundation have set aside for their walk a hill fundraiser, so as you walk on the hill during the month think of the little children and go online and donate a little , it will help a lot. Knockfierna Heritage Society is holding an important meeting this Thursday 23rd September in Ballingarry Hall at 8.30pm. Indoor meetings are allowed again so the meeting will take place in the main hall so that people can be socially distanced.

It was fantastic to meet the 87 year old gentleman walking with gusto during the week on Knockfierna hill.He said an hour of walking is better than any tablet and is good for mind and body, a lesson for us all. If you have a dog just bear in mind that some children and adults are terrified of dogs and will not walk the hill for this reason. So have respect for all and keep the dog on a lead.
